Welcome to the new and improved Kimberly J. inspired blog. When I started my blog, it was on SquareSpace, and it served me well for the time being. But, I’ve heard that if you want to go the distance with your blog and have more flexibility, it really should be on a WordPress platform. So, I made the switch before I got too far into it….if you count a few years later as not too far. 🙂
Making the direct switch was pretty easy, buttt I’m finding that transferring my posts and images difficult. This is not a seamless transition and if I want all my previous posts to show up here, I’ll need to transfer them all manually. Yikes! You will see that I have copied over some old posts, but a majority of them will be left behind. If you are looking for something that was posted on my old blog, email me and I’ll get back to you.
MY HOPES FOR THIS NEW BLOG
My old blog was really just a collection of pictures with minimal context around them. With this blog, I’m hoping to do more long form posts on a variety of topics like books, style, cooking, decor, and any other topics that are on my mind. I love to take pictures, but I also like to write. One of my problem’s is that I often feel paralyzed on what exactly to write about. I also have a “what will people think” complex. I picked up this book and may re-read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert in hopes to get my juices flowing. I’ve also started a running list of topics on my phone as a helpful reference point.
Navigation
If you go to the Homepage of my site, you will see a navigation bar at the top that will direct you to a variety of topics. These may change over time, but this is where I’m starting. Within some of the topics are drop-downs, which drill down to more specific topics. Note: Not all of these topics have posts right now – the goal is to populate them over time. This is particularly relevant in the “What’s Cooking” section. The three main large images aligned at the top of the Homepage highlight the latest post in the Category labeled – I may change the categories featured from time-to-time. Below the three images, you will see my latest posts regardless of category.
Posting Timeline
I plan to post once a week on Sundays. Having a day job, I want to make this blog manageable and enjoyable, so I think once a week is a good start for me. There may be times when I post more than once a week, but not often.
Thank You
I’ll leave you with a big “THANK YOU!” and a moment to peruse around the website. I appreciate you following along, and if you have any ideas or comments, feel free to email me.
