I’ve slowly been transitioning to “cleaner” beauty and household products over the years, and recently discovered this clean perfume brand, By/ Rosie Jane, via Gurl Gone Green. Unlike “conventional” perfume, Rosie Jane’s scents are phlatate and paraben-free with no endocrine disruptors. The company is also very transparent with their ingredient list, and even gives EWG ratings for each. The best part, their scents are legit! When you think of “clean” scents you might think of one-dimensional essential oils, but Rosie Jane provides a variety of well-rounded scents that I think would appeal to many.
I ordered a sample pack and went through the different scents each day of the week. I’m much more of a vanilla/musk or “fresh” scent person versus floral or sweet. Out of the 7 samples, I enjoyed “Rosie” and “Dylan” the best, which have those musk undertones. I think “Angie” would be a runner up and something I would wear much more in the Summer. It reminds me of the Philosophy – Amazing Grace lotion that was so popular few years ago.
My Favorites – Scent Profiles
Rosie – Nude Musk Sweet Rose
Dylan – Cedar Frankincense White Musk
Angie – Honeysuckle Jasmine Fig
Much like most perfumes, one thing to note is that the scents smell differently in the bottle than on your skin. So, I wouldn’t base your favorites immediately off of what you smell in the tube. Let it linger on your skin for a bit before coming to any conclusions.
Also, these scents will not last all day. They slowly fade after about 5 or so hours. But, I think this is a sign that it’s truly a clean scent. I’m not an expert, but I’ve heard that scents that remain strong long after they’ve initially been applied is a sign that they include unwanted chemicals. No bueno.
I purchased the sample pack which includes the 7 fragrances in small tester tubes, but there is also an option to by the 7-Day Detox Fragrance Discovery Box. This box includes larger tubes, but not full size, which still gives you the benefit of testing each without committing to just one scent. Plus, they are handy to carry in your purse or for travel.
I’m really excited about this brand discovery. I don’t wear perfume often because of it’s affects on your endocrine system and hormones, but I still do on special occasions. With this brand, I feel like I can enjoy a nice scent everyday without having to worry about unwanted ingredients. If you’re looking to switch up your fragrance and would like a “cleaner” option, check out By/ Rosie Jane!
